The Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM) recognizes outstanding work in the field of public relations through several awards programs, awarded at our annual state conference each Spring. Below are short descriptors of each program, along with links to access more information:

The PRAM PRism Awards Program began in 2003 as a way to honor and recognize outstanding work in the field of public relations by professionals within the state of Mississippi. The awards are judged by professionals outside the geographical boundaries of the Southern Public Relations Federation — Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana. A best of show is awarded as well as a judge’s choice. The highest award honor goes to the PRism winners, followed by Awards of Excellence and Certificates of Achievement.

The Professional Achievement Award is PRAM’s top honor and recognizes excellence in the field of public relations. It is presented to a public relations practitioner and PRAM member whose accomplishments have made a major contribution to the profession. Recipients embody the highest degree of professionalism, serve their communities, are committed to advancing the profession and have outstanding achievements in the practice of public relations.

In 2008, PRAM began recognizing outstanding professional educator members through its Educator of the Year award.

PRAM established this award to recognize an educator who has taught public relations or a closely-related discipline and who has demonstrated a commitment to advance the profession of public relations. Full-time faculty members teaching in a public relations/journalism/communication curriculum, at any rank, who are members of the Public Relations Association of Mississippi are eligible for nomination.

PRAM’s Student of the Year Award is bestowed to one student annually who exemplifies the professionalism, goals, and ideals of the public relations profession. In PRAM presents a scholarship as part of the award. The Student of the Year winner is announced at the annual PRAM Conference.

Eligible students meet the following requirements: (a) must be an undergraduate at a Mississippi university or college that offers at least one course with the words ‘public relations’ in the course title, (b) must be a full-time student, (c) must have completed at least one course with the words ‘public relations’ in the title by the end of December of the year they are nominated, and (d) must be a public relations, communication, journalism or marketing communications major. Each applicant’s score is based on academic excellence and academic honors along with public relations activities and experience; campus involvement plus community activities; and the articulation of future goals and a letter of recommendation from the student’s nominating professor/instructor.
